Sunday Night’s Editorial for ‘Morn’days Mode (SNEMODE…Sneh!Mode).
So, there’s this quote I heard from the Senior Pastor of Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC), London, that got me in deep thought about what true leadership ought to be and where it should come from, it goes thus:
“Geography does not produce leadership; It is ‘Content’ that produces leadership” – Matthew Ashimolowo.
According to the Genesis of creation from Biblical accounts, the Almighty God in creating the whole wide world made mankind on the 6th day and thus positioned man as the crowning glory of His artful masterpiece; as the story goes, God put Adam into a deep sleep and by an act of ‘legbegbe’ formed Eve with just a rib taken from his side (a powerful rib at that surely!). To cut the long story short, it is evident that there has been a leadership failure since the days of the first man (and woman) who ought to have been examples for the whole of humanity to follow modelling closely after the footsteps of the Divine Master. Instead they chose to serve the god of lesser things; and other than show remorse with a solemn resolve to make amends for their obvious errors, they resorted to playing the blame game – today, that failure is still with us and does not go by the name Immanuel.
Coincidentally, the 6th day of 2019, happened to be the First Sunday of the year too…Woww! or Wawuu! Trust the past weekend went well, was restful, and you’re taking on the week ahead of you with renewed vigor and positive vibes flowing through your entire being despite having sipped from the chalice of Monday’s wine? Hectic abi? No be small thing oo!
Well, for me, breakfast on Sunday with the ‘qahal’ was superbly awesome, one I wouldn’t want to miss even for hectares of precious pearls. Every meal is indeed a bounteous feast of love at the Master’s table of which afterwards, as a family, we sang to a solemn but spirit lifting karaoke of the ‘Anima Christi’…boy! Boundless joy filled my heart, warming my soul with the kind of effect a baby’s smile would have on anyone; plus, it was the ‘Epiphany of the King’.

There’s hardly many a people alive I know that would reject the offer to sit on the iron throne made for royalty, be it in the capacity of President, Prime Minister, Chancellor etc. save for the Prince of Peace and His lowly but exalted handmaid who both offered up self out of divine benevolence for the noblest of causes to salvage many for generations unending. Apart from these hallowed ones, every other person wants to be ‘KING’ even slay queens too! But, besides Her Majesty The Queen whom I have heard of & read about, I’ve come to know just one such maiden (well, not so much as the palm of my hand) – a rare GEM, whose coronation I have witnessed twice…the third of which I hope will be forever. Amen! Amin!! So be it!!!
The kind of kingship to be considered here will take on a couple or more dimensions which I’m sure you’re quite familiar with, that is if you’re a Nigerian, but if not it’s okay you’ll probably hear it reported in the NEWS globally.

The summit of every normal work in paid employment or business undertaking is that having applied one’s self dutifully for a given period commensurate remuneration is paid as agreed, either from a single source or multiple sources of income, in the form of a decent minimum wage, salary, commission, or a handsome profit made likewise, only without recourse to dubious dealings. Creating both present and future realities for our sustainable existence as individuals or as a nation is one that requires all hands on deck as it is an uphill task with the semblance of Calvary’s; one which though psychologically, kinetically & mentally demanding, is capable of changing the scoreline in favor of the Nigerian people as did the ‘Hand of God’ when it was most needed in 1986 to scale Papa Francisco’s home country past the quarter-final phase and on to victory. Ever since then, it has become a thing to be reckoned with in the annals of history – as the 6th hand that was deployed rather wisely, but with a lot of controversy surrounding it.
Within the construct of our society i.e from the perspective of the ongoing political games on our country’s field of play, the ‘Hand of God’ to be deployed with a lot of care in the final quarter – which based on my own counting from May 25th, 2018 to February/March, 2019, when the polls will be concluded…if not declared inconclusive – leading to the election’s grand finale will be the wise use of your PVC (Permanent Voters Card) to enthrone one with the requisite Character, Competence, Capacity, Courage & Compassion to lead you as ‘KING’.
